Weekly Market View from Realm Investment Management. Week ending 29th April 2022.
The UK FTSE 100 managed a small gain over the week but European markets were generally lower with concerns over inflation, interest rates and the war in Ukraine weighing on sentiment.
US stocks were also lower. Amazon, a highly weighted stock in US indices, fell 14% after reporting disappointing earnings figures.
Investors have plenty to think about this coming week. The US Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision is on Wednesday (Chairman Jerome Powell has been discussing the possibility of rates being raised by 0.5%). Bank of England’s rate decision is on Thursday and US Non-Farm Payrolls data will be released on Friday.
