Stocks lower on 3rd wave fears

UK and European stocks are trading lower this morning. Market focus is on a trhird wave of coronavirus infections in Europe with Angela Merkel recommending a lockdown extension of four-weeks in Germany saying “we are now in a very, very serious situation”.

In the US, equities closed higher on Monday as the 10-yr Treasury yield eased back from its recent fourteen-month high. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell will both be speaking later today.
