UK and European markets are slightly higher this morning ahead of the latest policy announcements from the US Federal Reserve. No change is expected in interest rates or the current purchase program of $120 billion of government securities a month, but comments from Fed Chair Jerome Powell at the post-meeting press conference will be monitored closely.
Investors will all also be weighing latest earnings from Microsoft and Alphabet which came in better than expected and reports from Lloyds, GlaxoSmithKline and Deutsche Bank due today.
