UK and European markets have opened lower this morning ahead of US CPI data. The key inflation report is due later today. Wednesday also sees the start of third-quarter earnings season with major banks reporting.
Data released this morning shows that the UK economy grew by 2.9% in the three months to August end, slightly below expectations of 3%. UK industrial production was up 0.8% in the month of August, well ahead of forecasts.
