UK and European markets have followed US and Asian stocks higher this morning following weakness earlier in the week especially in hitherto leading sectors like technology.
US jobless claims data will be watched closely when released later today, as will earnings reports from a number of major companies.
Inflation fears abated after US Fed Chair, Jerome Powell, made downplaying comments on Wednesday saying he does not expect inflation to run hot as the US economy reopens. Investors have become increasingly nervous recently that rising US Treasury bond yields will see the Fed raising interest rates.
